Sayyid Abdol Ali Badrei (July 1, 1919 - February 11, 1979) was an Iranian lieutenant general and the last commander of the Imperial Army of Iran and the Imperial Guard.

Early life and education
Badrei was born in Shahr-e Kord on July 1, 1919. He graduated from military academy in Kermanshah and Tehran.

Careers
After graduation, Badrei joined the Imperial army as Lieutenant in the Installed Infantry. His first mission was in 1946 against the rebels in Azerbaijan and Kurdistan. Later he joined the imperial guard in 1946. In 1967, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general and served as the second commander in the guards. In 1971, he became the major general and was appointed commander of the perpetual keeper in 1973. In 1975, he was appointed lieutenant-general and appointed commander of the imperial guard in 1976.
In February 1979, Badrei publicly declared that the army would not follow the order of prime minister Shahpour Bakhtiar. Instead of being reprimanded by Shah for this statement, he was named land forces commander on January 10, replacing Gholam Ali Oveissi, who resigned from office and left Iran. Badrei formed a group to conduct a military coup on February 10, just before the Iranian revolution. He served in the post of the Guardian Palace until his death on February 11, and the Guards were disbanded on February 17.
