Jose Angel Baez (born October 17, 1968) is a lawyer and the best selling author of the New York Times. He is known as the main lawyer for Casey Anthony, who was released from the murder in July 2011 after a session that attracted significant national and international attention.

Early life and education
Baez, born to Puerto Rico's parents, was born in Manhattan, N.Y., and grew up in the Bronx, New York, and South Florida with his three sisters by his only mother. He attended Homestead High School in Florida, but dropped out of school in ninth grade. He married and became a father at the age of 17 years. After obtaining a diploma in General Development Education, he joined the US Navy in 1986.
