Open Carry Guitar Rally is a concept created by Barry Kooda in response to the Open Carry rifle movement. During the Open Carry Guitar Rally, residents gathered in public places while displaying their instruments, a parody of similar meetings held by armed rights activists.

The show originated in Dallas, Texas, where he received support from the local Dallas art and music community. Kooda is a member of punk rock band based in Dallas, The Nervebreakers. Since then, these rallies have taken place in several cities across the United States. These events were attended by people with varying degrees of opinion on gun rights and laws; while some participants expressed anti-gun sentiment, others saw the meeting as just an opportunity to enjoy the friendship of fellow guitar fans.
The Open Carry Guitar Rally is organized using an open source concept. Ideas, and all artwork and pictures are free to use for others to use to set up their own open carry guitar rally, giving the right credits awarded to artists and contributors.
