iSight is the brand name used by Apple Inc. to refer to the camera on various devices. The name was originally used for external iSight webcam, which sold for US $ 149, connected to a computer via FireWire cable, and came with a set of mounts to place it above any current Apple display, laptop computer, all-in-one desktop computer, or flat surface.
Apple introduced iSight at the 2003 World Developers Conference, intended to be used with iChat AV, Apple's video-conference client. iMovie (version 4 and above) can also be used to record videos from the device. In April 2005, Apple released firmware updates for iSight to improve audio performance. On October 13, 2008, the external iSight is no longer sold at Apple's online store or at a retail location.

External iSight iCD color CCD sensor has a VGA resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, with a specially designed two-part F/2.8 lens with two asferic elements. It features autoexposure, autofocus from 50 mm to infinity, and video capture at 30 frames per second in 24-bit color with various shutter speeds. However, iSight has a picture delay of about 120 ms.
ISight combines an internal microphone with dual element noise suppression. The actual camera takes only a quarter of the unit; the remaining space is mainly occupied by two microphones and socket mounting.
The iSight camera weighs 2.3 ounces (63.8 grams). It uses a FireWire 400 cable (IEEE 1394a) (included) for audio, video, and power.
Four camera holder, plastic tube carrying bag and FireWire camera mounting adapter are also included. Users can choose the mounting bracket that is most suitable for their monitor or other mounting surface. It is fully compatible with native macOS, as well as partially compatible with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
ISight has a small green LED that lights up when the camera is in use. It also has a slice that closes by rotating the front of the camera.

Built-in iSight
Although external and internal iSights have significant differences, Apple has used the name "iSight" for its video camera brands on MacBook computers (including Redesigned MacBooks), MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, iMac desktop computers manufactured since late 2005 and LED Cinema Display. iSight on Linux
The Linux 3.0 kernel internally contains drivers for the iSight camera.

iSight vs. FaceTime
