Plot
Marly, her parents, and her brother went to a place where their grandmother had lived called Maple Hill. There people are so good with each other that they know everyone's name, and they are very good with each other. They help each other when any help is needed. Unlike the city, where people barely talk to each other and like to gossip behind others. Therefore, it is very easy for people to feel tired and upset. Marly's father returned from war, suffered from mood swings and depression, and seemed tired all the time. Lee, Marly's mother, decided to move to Maple Hill so that her father would not suffer the same as in the city and would be able to return to normal. They are supported by a neighboring couple, Mr and Mrs Chris, who make a living with maple syrup. Marly and her brother adapted to live in this country very well, and ended up being happier there. Their father's condition also increased dramatically.
When Mr. Chris suffered a heart attack during the sugar-feeding period, the Marly family stepped forward to restore the good that Chrises had shown them. They collect the whole plant sap and boil it, but they are sure that they do not have the deft touch of Mr Chris by making syrup. When Mr. Chris was allowed to go home, it was a moment of truth: whether their syrup was as good as Mr. Chris? Mr. Chris himself can not detect any difference. Marly reflects that her father's recovery and Mr. Chris, the stronger the bond in his family, and the second chance to live and love is the true wonder of Maple Hill.
