The SIG Sauer P320 is a modular design semi-automatic pistol made by Sig Sauer, Inc. from Exeter, New Hampshire, USA and SIG Sauer GMBH EckernfÃÆ'¶rde, Germany. SIG Sauer P320 can be framed in 9ÃÆ'â € "19mm Parabellum (referred to in USA as Luger 9mm),.357 SIG,.40 S & amp; W, and.45 ACP. Pistol made with 9mm,.357 SIG, and.40 S & amp; W caliber can be easily converted in between each to be another. Change from 0.357 Sig to 0.40 S & amp; W only need barrel changes. Change between 9mm to 0.357 Sig or 0.40 S & amp; W and vice versa done using a caliber exchange kit.

P320 booth at 9ÃÆ'â € "19mm Parabellum introduced in North American market on January 15, 2014 followed by compact model.45 ACP at SHOT Show in January 2015. P320 is a further development of SIG Sauer P250 which utilizes striker -fired mechanism in lieu of system double action hammers only. On January 19, 2017, it was announced that a customized version of the SIG Sauer P320 has won the United States Military Models XM17 Military Pistol competition. The full-sized model will be known as the M17 and the carry-sized model will be known as the M18.

Design details

Features

The main feature of the gun is its modular design. The main module of P320 is the internal stainless steel fire control unit , which consists of an integrated fire control group (triggers, and all necessary linkage and springs), ambidextrous slide release (one on each side of the gun), ejector and four slide rails as well as ambidextrous external security on the equipped gun. The steel receiving unit is used in any combination of P320 grip, top-end, and chambering and is inserted into the grip frame module and held in place by the demolition pin of the discharge lever. The firearm serial number is in the fire control unit instead of the handrail module. The fire control unit allows the operator to replace different sized units or upper end modules and polymer clamp frame modules and trigger shoes and (limited) convert conversions to adapt rifles to individual users and meet different needs.

Calibers dan Grip Choices

Each of these three caliber (9x19mm Parabellum,.357 Sig, and.40 S & amp; W) comes in four barrel/slides size, which can be converted back and forth using a caliber exchange kit. The full 9mm size can be converted into a 9mm, compact, or subcompact carry in this way (like one of 3 caliber). Or the full size of 9mm can be changed to 0.357 Sig carry (for example). In addition to the basic P320 model is the RX series featuring optical views built in. Another variation of the P320 is the X Series. The RX feature is also available for standard models through caliber exchange kits, and vice versa. These parts are not firearms and are not radiant and can be sold and shipped without restriction. Models with.357 Sig and.40 S & amp; W caliber barrel change this caliber exchange using only barrel.

The Sig Sauer P320 uses a polymer grip frame that can be changed from between four frame sizes and three grip sizes. In this way the size of the grip is adjusted to the action length of the gun and is available in three hand sizes. Four casing sizes are full, carry, compact, and compact sub . Three large, medium, and small grip sizes. The.45 caliber ACP can not be interchanged with other caliber but has various sizes of grips as well. Most grip sizes have the standard Picatinny accessory rails, except for subcompact grips.

X series grips can also be swapped with standard grips.

Unit of Fire Control/Serialization

The firearm serial number, used for registration and tracking by the government, is part of an irreversible section relating to registration and in fact firearms regardless of the size of the frame or grip attached to it. The Fire Control Unit (FCU) contains the triggers, attackers, separators, and security mechanisms. This is, in essence, a firearm while all the barrels, slides, recoil springs, grips and interchangeable magazines are just pieces of accessories and are not subject to registration restrictions. (USA regulations). The ability to change caliber, frame size, and grip size is the core of a modular system.

The P320 is designed to be ambidextrous in handling, sport slide slide ambidextrous and user reversible magazine catch. All other operating controls are designed to be operable from both sides. Firearms can be perforated without tools. In addition, firearms can also be removed without pressing the trigger, additional security features to prevent negligence from weapons.

Full-size grip, grip and grip module features an inseparable Picatinny rail mounting bracket on the lower front edge of the module to enable the installation of laser sights, tactical lights, and other accessories.

Modular options

The P320 pistol is offered in three sizes of glass cups - small, medium, and large glass handles - in each of the full-sized, carry, compact, and subcompact P320 variants. The top gun ends also come in full size, compact, and subcompact variants that will fit the handheld sized modules accordingly. Each chamber can be converted by a user with a caliber exchange kit. Parabellum 9ÃÆ' â € "19mm Parabellum,.40 S & amp; W, and.357 SIGs share the polymer handle frame module and this offers the possibility to swap these three arrays by swapping the top end - which consists of slides, spring recoil, barrel and box magazine. Due to the much larger external dimension of the.45 ACP cartridge compared to other P320 base options, the.45 ACP device uses a slightly wider.45 ACP special polymer handling module with an enlarged magazine well. The "fire control" firearm, which contains the only part of the firearm series, is also slightly different to accommodate well-enlarged magazines.

The grips come in different color patterns depending on the gun model. Some are offered on Dark Earth Dark, like the Civil M17 model, a color called Coyote.

Caliber Exchange Tools

The manufacturer offers a caliber exchange kit or an X-Change® Caliber kit consisting of slides, recoil assembly, barrels, box magazines, and handrail modules in various frame sizes, grip module sizes and chambering variants in which the P320 pistol is offered. This kit allows users to switch between different P320 configurations without using the tool. There are also caliber exchange kits that supply Reflex Optic views installed from the RX model.

Reverse mechanism

Like other Sauer SIG pistols, the P320 pistol is a short-handed reverse pistol. It uses the Sig Sauer System cam-operated barrel, which locks into the ejection port on the slide.

Slide

Slide is made of stainless steel and is often resolved in durable black color called NitronÃ,®. Slide contains breechblock, striker, separator, ejector, and security system. Regulatory versions may also install an ambidextrous external safety lever. Several slides were made for the type of optical sight Romeo1.

Security Mechanism

The standard P320 does not have manual security, which promotes instant readiness. The safety usage of automatic firing pins combined with separators ensures safe carrying of weapons, while preventing accidental discharges if the gun is dropped or handled roughly. As mandated in some US states, some models come with external security. The Modular Version Handgun System (MHS) (now known as M17) of the P320 has ambidextrous thumb safety. Law and Military Enforcement Version can also be equipped with tabbed security trigger on request.

No Need Trigger Pull

The gun can be disassembled for cleaning without pulling the trigger only by using the retained lever to lock the slide backwards, then rotating the take-up lever to the counterclockwise position and then releasing the slide by pressing the opening lever that opens downwards and then loosen the slide forward from the rail fire control unit.

System triggers

Trigger releases the Double Action striker pretending. The trigger system has a tensile weight of about 5.5 lbs, 28.95 N

Trigger P320 is available in standard (solid) and tab (with trigger security).

Barrel

The P320 is available with a tube measuring 120 mm (4.7 inches), 98 mm (3.9 inches), or 91 mm (3.6 inches) depending on size (full size, carry/compact or sub-compact). The Tacops barrel model is threaded for suppressor use (also called a silencer).

Ammunition feed

The gun eats from a removable magazine box of magazine capacity of 6 to 21, depending on the caliber (9x19mm Parabellum,.357 Sig,.40 S & amp; W., Or.45 ACP) and gun size. See the chart below the Variants section.

Views

The P320 comes with three iron-fighter scenic spots where the front vision element can drift to the left or right on the fitting to adjust for windage. There are three rear view heights and six front view heights available for adjusting elevation. The glowing Tritium-powered SIGLITE Night Spot at different altitudes is optional. The SIGLITE night scene is optional but standard in exchange equipment.

SIG Sauer Romeo1's vision is provided on Full RX and RX Compact versions of the P320.

The X-Five comes with Dawson Precision Fiber Optic front view and fully adjustable rear view.

Stripping Field

Stripping is done by locking the open action with the retained opening lever either by rotating the slide backward with an empty magazine that will pull the release lever and hold the slide as the slide is released, or by holding the slide back and then pushing the slide slide open. The magazine is then removed. Then the timer lever on the left side of the frame spins down. The shear holding lever is then pressed downward while holding onto the slide assembly which can then be removed from its binding with the stainless-steel rail fire control unit. Once removed the barrel can be removed from the slide by pushing the backward spring, located under the barrel away from the breech block that allows the spring to be removed. Then the barrel can be turned downward away from the end of the first slide and then removed from the front of the bushing that glide. Cleaning can be done easily from this point on.

Reassembly requires that the slide open with an open slider opening (then released or left open) or the magazine can not be re-inserted.

Removing Fire Control Unit

Changing the grip module is easy and simple. It starts with the slide removal as mentioned above. After the slide assembly is removed, the removal lever can be removed from the frame by pulling it out from the left side. Then the Fire Control Unit (FCU) can be rotated out of the grasp. FCUs can be easily inserted into different grip sizes and if desired different slide assemblies can be used with different frames. This is the essence of modular system configuration.

Accessories

Factory accessories consist of magazines, caliber exchange equipment, barrels, holsters, Optical Landscape, and Tactical Lights/Laser units.

Pengambilan Sistem Pistol Modular XM17

When the requirements formulated for a new pistol for the US Army one of the principles of the proposal is that the existing pistol model is desired to meet the requirements listed in the Modular Pistol Request System for Proposals, known as Procurement XM17. Sig Sauer submitted the P320 with a number of modifications and submitted it to the XM17 Modular Pistol System competition.

Mods include:

  • Slide slide to facilitate the addition of reflex view. (This is a slide of the RX Series)
  • Ambidextrous thumb safety

The 101st Airborne is the first to receive M17

On January 19, 2017, it was announced that the SIG Sauer P320 MHS variant had won the United States Military Handgun Modular Test. P320 will be known as M17 (full size) and M18 (solid) in the U.S. Military service Although the gun will remain booth at 9 x 19mm Parabellum than the larger caliber, the contract allows the Army and other services for the procurement of Sig Sauer which proposes XM1152 Full Metal Jacket and XM1153 Special Purpose ammunition. The selected ammo to go with the gun is a rounded "Winchester jacketed hollow point".

In May 2017, the Army announced that the first unit to receive the M17 would be the 101st Airborne Division by the end of the year. At the same time, the rest of the U.S. Armed Forces. revealed that they also intend to get a gun, making it a standard weapon for the entire US military. The service plans to get up to 421,000 weapons in total; 195,000 for the Army, 130,000 for the Air Force, 61,000 for the Navy (compact XM18 only), and 35,000 for the Marines.

On November 17, 2017, the 101st Airborne soldiers received the first XM17 and XM18 pistols, with more than 2,000 weapons delivered. XM17 has better accuracy and ergonomics and tighter dispersion than M9. It will also be held broader, given to troop leaders and firefighters; while the special forces will multiply all of its members with pistols and rifles, previous junior leaders in regular infantry units are removed from arms, but policies are changed to give them more choice and choice in close combat situations. All Army units planned to have M9 replaced with M17 in a decade.

Drop Firing Problem

At the end of July 2017, the Dallas Police Department instructed all personnel to stop carrying the P320 pending an investigation. There is a concern that firearms may detach when dropped and the back of the slide touches the ground at a 33-degree angle. The problem may be related to the weight of the trigger; some triggers are quite heavy so basically they keep moving because of inertia after the gun touches the ground. Internet publications, such as TheTruthAboutGuns.com, conduct independent tests that appear to confirm the potential for dismissal of a decrease (at a 40% rate). Other tests have shown that the P320 can be removed when the magazine touches the ground first after the gun is dropped.

On August 8, 2017, Sig Sauer issued notice that they will upgrade all P320s to resolve the issue. The P320 improvement program is detailed on the Sig Sauer Web Site at: P320 Voluntary Improvement Program.

Voluntary Upgrade Program

Although the P320 handgun has successfully passed the MH17 drop protocol test it becomes clear later than the gun can shoot if it falls in a certain way to a hard surface. In one instance, a pistol writer put up a lighter trigger that almost completely eliminates the possibility of accidentally firing. Sig Sauer instituted a program for those who wanted to improve their P320 weapon in which a number of changes were made that ensured that no drop releases were possible. Details of the changes are found here: Explanation of Changes made to the P320 Pistol

The upgrade program does not cost to the owner. Sig Sauer sends a "call tag" to the owner who sends a no-cost firearm with a 2-day delivery to the Sig factory for an upgrade. After the upgrade is done, the gun is sent back to the owner, again with a 2 day delivery. To participate in the upgrade program, users go to the Sig Sauer website as shown above and sign up for an upgrade. Sig Sauer will ship to prepaid shipping label users and instructions on how to package firearms for legal delivery. Details will generally be emailed, or sent if the owner does not have an email. After the firearms arrived at Sig Sauer, the waiting time announced was from four to six weeks. The actual turnaround time is as short as 7 days. Once sent, the owner will be notified of the delivery and given the tracking number. SIG SAUER Announces Details of the 'Free Voluntary Improvement' P320 Program

Owners who have received their P320s back after upgrading reports that they were also given a Sig P320 Patch and a 25% discount coupon for future purchases from the Sig Sauer store.

Patent Infringement

In May 2017, Steyr Mannlicher filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Sig Sauer. Steyr referenced their patent US6260301 (submitted in 1999 and approved in 2001), which for a pistol with a removable chassis. Steyr Arms demanded an early and permanent order against Sig Sauer who sold the firearms.
