A revolver snubnosed (colloquially known as snubbie ) has a barrel length under 3 inches (76.2mm). The design of this revolver sacrifices strength and range for maneuvering and concealment. Its temporary popularity was overshadowed by the wide availability of a compact semi-automatic pistol in the 1980s and their gradual adoption by police in the 1990s.

History and use
The first disguised revolution was the various versions of "Banker Special", "Sheriff's Model", and "Shopkeeper Special" from the Colt Single Action Army made by Colt's Manufacturing Company ("Colt"), in the 19th century.
Two developments produced a revival in the popularity of these revolvers in the United States, beginning in the mid-1990s. First, the part of the Right to Bring (ie, "to publish") laws in different countries creates a new market for firearms that is reliable and concealed. Second, the part of the Federal Weapon Weapons limit the availability of gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, thereby reducing the profitability of the "Wonder Nine" gun which is usually capable of holding 15 or more rounds. This development is in addition to simplicity and reliability, common to revolvers.
Increased demand for brushed revolvers has been met with the introduction of new models from Smith & amp; Wesson, Taurus, and others. While some are made of traditional carbon steel, stainless steels, and lightweight aluminum alloys that have been used for decades, many new models use high strength, lightweight metal alloys such as titanium and scandium. Recently even polymer frames have been used.
