Albert Finney (born May 9, 1936) is a British actor. Starting in the theater, Finney achieved a major success as a Shakespeare actor before switching to the film. He achieved excellence in films during the early 1960s, debuting with The Entertainer, directed by Tony Richardson, who previously directed him in drama. He became a leading Free Cinema figure while maintaining a successful career in theater, film, and television.
