Arnold Bernid "Casey" Jones is a fictional character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. Like a tortoise, Casey Jones is a judge of vigilante, and is created as a parody of the vigilante characters present in comics. Casey usually has long black hair, wore an ice hockey mask, cut-off cycling gloves, and carried his gun in a golf bag over his shoulder.

His weapons include sports equipment such as baseball batons, golf clubs, cricket bats, tennis rackets, and ice hockey sticks. He became the love interest of April O'Neil.

In most installments and all related media, Casey Jones has been described by several actors. He was first voiced by Pat Fraley in the 1987 series, Elias Koteas in the 1990 film, Marc Thompson in the 2003 series, voiced by Chris Evans at TMNT (movie 2007), Josh Peck in the 2012 series and by Stephen Amell in 2016 sequel to reboot 2014.

Origins

When Jones was young, his father, Arnold Casey Jones Sr., owns a car shop. A group of Purple Dragon members (led by a young Hun) set fire to the store, killing his father and bringing his mother and younger sister. Casey, who lost heavily, refused to lie down and accepted Hun's blow. He attacked Hun with a knife, stabbed him in the neck. Angry, Hun had struck him an inch from his life. It seems that the beatings he took from Hun as a teenager resulted in some mental and emotional disturbance, explaining the often abusive and uncertain behavior.

According to the original creators (Kevin Eastman), they intended that Casey be wary because he witnessed too many bad cop performances (as Peter Laird used) as implied by the character's first appearance in Raphael # 1 (1985), as opposed to the storyline which is more exaggerated where the hero does it after seeing his family killed in front of him. However, this was semi-retconned when author Tristan Huw Jones imported his TV series in 2003, in the edition of Tales # 56.

Beginning

The city of New York, where Jones is from, is ruled by criminals. Attracted by TV examples, Casey decides to do something about crime on the streets. After equipping himself with a hockey mask and various sports clubs, he started his own vigilante campaign.

She started her career with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when she ran to Raphael beating a pair of muggers. When Raphael let them go, Casey went on to "finish it," but was stopped by Raphael. The two clashed but eventually helped each other drop the additional robbers that emerged after their fight.

Mirage

Casey first appeared in Raphael's "Me, Myself and I." Raphael ran to Casey to defeat some robbers and the result to stop him before the criminals were killed. Jones and Raphael fought several times before reconciling each other. Later, he came to help Turtles, Splinter and April O'Neil as they were attacked by Shredder who was resurrected at April's home. Seven refugees, and retreated to a farmhouse in Northampton, Massachusetts that belonged to Casey's grandmother. Casey "officially" became part of the Turtles family around this point, and the farmhouse acted as the second home for the group for some time.

In the Mirage series, Casey is very hard, even more than Raphael, but he mellows throughout the series. In Shades of Gray , Casey accidentally killed a teenager who tried to rob him. The incident sent him into a drunken spiral, damaging his relationship with April O'Neil. The early inclination of suicide was primarily present in his first appearance, though he never actually killed anyone in the example.

During the three-part episode of City at War , Casey leaves the farmhouse and starts driving to Los Angeles, planning to find April, but instead meets a pregnant woman named Gabrielle with whom she falls in love and marries. Gabrielle died in labor and Casey was left to take care of her daughter, whom she named Shadow. After scattering Gabrielle's ashes, Casey returns to New York with Shadow to stay with her mother. On one occasion, Casey reunited with April when he came to buy Casey's mother's apartment building. During this meeting it was revealed that Casey's real name was Arnold but preferred to use his middle name only.

Casey improved his relationship with April and they started dating. With a volume of four, she and April married, raising the Shadow as their daughter and trying to have their own child. April eventually leaves Casey and Shadow when he finds out that he is not human and is a product of Kirby's warp pens. When April came to reconcile in him in Alaska, Casey took to the nightclub to drown his sorrow. He met the Kara Klan Klan leader in one of the clubs and, after a few drinks, woke up at Karai's retreat without memory the night before, even though Karai knew something about what had happened. This plotline is not resolved because the fourth volume suddenly ends.

Dreamwave Productions

The fourth issue of the Dreamwave Productions series (based on the 2003 animated series) focuses entirely on Casey Jones. When Casey was a boy, he worried that his father should give Purple Dragon and his protection, lest anything bad happen. Mr. Jones became violent and told Casey that he was playing on his team and that Jones never gave up (almost punching Casey in violent anger). Mr. Jones heard something and that number is the Purple Dragon that goes into his shop. Casey watched as his father's shop burned to the ground. The Purple Dragon leader, Hun, then strikes Casey with encouragement that his father pays. Casey broke the bottle and stabbed Hun in the foot with it. Angry, Hun makes his thugs beat Casey into a pulp. Before being discharged from hospital because he had no insurance, Casey was diagnosed with brain damage from beatings. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Jones went in search of Hun for revenge and disappeared. Casey's mother then goes looking for her husband and disappears as well. Casey drifts in a state of fantasy, convincing herself that her father and mother are still alive, just waiting for Casey to clear the streets of all the Purple Dragon before they can return.

Komik IDW

In the series TMNT released by IDW Publishing, Casey is a young college scholarship holder. After her mother's death from cancer, her father became an alcohol thug who would wreak out her daily disappointment with her son. On one such occasion, Casey was rescued from another beating of violence by Raphael, who at that time lived a solitary life as a street bum after his mutation (unaware that he had a family searching for it), and the two quickly became fast friends and fellow villagers until Raphael reunited with his family, where Casey was introduced and befriended three other turtles as well.

Television

1987 animated series TMNT

In the 1987 animated series, Casey Jones is a crazy coward who likes "Dirty Harry" like a persona, who pursues all sorts of criminals, from robbers to more loyal people. He never took his mask off the screen, even when he was disguised with a business suit.

Appearing in just five episodes of the series, Casey's version does not play a central role as his comic book partner: He has no friendship with Raphael, or relationship with April - he did not even meet him until the 5th season's Leonardo Cuts Loose >, although later they work together on the episode of Night of the Rogues and Cyber-Turtles . Casey is voiced by Pat Fraley. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by Issei Futamata and Akio? Tsuka (NHK-BS2 version).

2003 animated series TMNT

In the 2003 animated series, Jones has a much more important role. He speaks in a Brooklyn accent, voiced by Marc Thompson in English and Tokuyoshi Kawashima in Japanese. This incarnation personality is equivalent to Raphael. Raphael first met Casey while the judge himself tried to stop the mugging by the Dragon Purple. Seeing herself in Casey, Raphael tries to argue with him and prevents him from letting his anger overcome him (Raphael himself has recently injured his brother and was overcome with guilt). Though initially uninterested in what he said, Casey finally tied up with Raphael after he lost Raph in the bike race and started listening to his lessons. Casey, Raphael, and 3 other turtles went on to join and defeat a group of Purple Dragon. From this point on, Casey became a valuable ally of the Turtles, and had a friendship closer to Raphael than in any other incarnation.

Backstory Casey perfected during the series. When he was a kid, his father's shop was burnt by Hun and the Purple Dragon for being denied protection money. Although threatened not, his father (Arnold Casey Jones Sr.) then went to the police. It is implied that he was killed for doing so. This gave Casey his hatred of evil and an important life-long war against the Purple Dragon. This backstory was later expanded in the Dreamwave comic and was adopted into the Mirage series.

It is revealed in the episode "The Lesson" that he and Tortoise met when they were children, though neither Turtles nor Casey were aware of the truth. During the journey to the surface, young Turtles watched the bullies who chose the young "Arnie". Disguised as a human child, they try to teach it self-defense. However, their unique perspectives and attitudes produce more problems than help. In the end, however, young Casey angrily jumps into a friend's defense against the bullies, stating that they are not suitable for "Arnold Casey Jones!" In a little shadow, he uses a bully hockey stick against them.

The main slogan is the battle cry of "Goongala!". It is also revealed in the episode "The Lesson" that it comes from a young Casey who can not afford to say "gorogoro-sama", a battle cry that means to burn. "Master Thunder", the young Michelangelo kept trying to teach him. "Goongala" is the best he can get.

Despite the lack of intelligence and clear disability, he was in the beginning in a series called by Hun as "Our Biggest Enemy (The Purple Dragon)", and a battle tournament was held to see which Dragon would honor honorably kill him, pointing out the seriousness of the criminal world threat see it as.

In the series, Casey has a good heart, but is easily angry and sometimes clumsy. He likes motorcycles. In a symbolic way, he sees Turtles as a little brother he never had. Thus, he often comes to their aid against the Shredder, the Foot Clan, or other enemies.

From the beginning, Casey met April and there was an early interest. However, their conflicting personalities led to frequent fights at first. Over time, however, they start dating and serious relationships develop. In season Back to the Sewer , Casey proposed to her. In the "Wedding Bells and Bytes" finale, they married, with Raphael serving as the best man and Michelangelo as a companion. Many recurring characters are present and ceremonies are performed by Fugitoid. In the season of Fast Forward, Turtles and Splinter moved to 2105, where they met great grandchildren April and Casey, Cody Jones, heir O'Neil Tech, a company created by April, Casey and Donatello after the tortoise- turtles go back to their own time. One of Cody's inventions, the Turtle X armor, resembles Casey's hockey mask.

TMNT 2012 animated series

Casey Jones has been confirmed to perform in the second season of the 2012 animated series. In the prequel tie-in comic on the official website, Raphael found some graffiti on the wall of the sewer that says, "Jones is everywhere!", Which also has a hockey mask its icon painted beside it. In a new trailer from IGN, it shows that Casey thinks he is the "Last Hope" for New York City. He seems to know about the mutant, which was seen when he saved April from Mutagen Man and proved able to defeat him himself. Interview with event creator Ciro Nieli about IGN outlines:

I asked about Casey Jones on the series, and Nieli replied, "Casey Jones will show up in the second season," noting she does not want to give too much, but that, "We'll take a moment when we introduce her." Casey would also be a high school student, but "Maybe a few years older - he's being held."

He was voiced by Josh Peck. He was introduced in the episode "Mutagen Man Unleashed" as a hockey player who was an April tutor at school.

He then becomes a criminal hunting down criminals, mutants, and whatever he thinks threatens his "town" in the two-season episode "The Good, The Bad and Casey Jones" and becomes an ally to the tortoise, especially Raphael who became his best friend. He also has a rivalry with Donatello.

As the series progresses, his rivalry with Donatello diminishes, and he becomes closer to the overall team in general. In the third season of "Casey Jones VS. The Underworld" Casey decides to start his own hunting crime and finally meets his own nemesis, Hun, the new leader of the Purple Dragon. He is defeated, at first, but then defeats Hun and extends the Shredder plan. He was then one of only six Earth dwellers-the other was April and Turtles-to be saved before the planet was consumed by an artificial black hole.

In Season 4 finals, "Owari" Casey helps Turtles in avenging Splinter's death. As Turtles prepares for mission, Casey gets a new mask that has a strong resemblance to his comic counterpart.

In an alternate future seen in Raphael: Mutant Apocalypse, Casey is one of many humans who died as a result of the giant Mutagen bomb that hit the planet. Raphael kept his skull and helmet, attached to the bomb he used to knock Maximus Kong's vehicle.

In the Monstrous Tales saga, Casey transforms into a vampire, along with April, Donatello and Raphael, until he returns to normal, as Mikey defeats Dracula.

In the Crossover Tales saga, Casey helps Turtles and their fellow 80s in stopping Krang and 80 from Shredder. She and April enlists Karai and Shinigami to hunt down Bebop and Rocksteady in "The Foot Walks Again". Later, Casey joins the Turtles and Mutanim Perkasa to end Zeck and Steranko in "The Big Blowout".

Featured movie

Casey Jones has a lead role in four of the six films of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . In the first film, he was described by Elias Koteas. He is a former professional ice hockey player who has changed his vigilance after his career ended early due to injury. She meets Raphael while attacking several wallet takers. Raphael stops Casey from harming the thief, where Casey changes his aggression on Raphael.

Casey then sees Raphael alone on the roof surrounded by Foot soldiers and comes to the help of the Turtles in subsequent attacks. He is referred to by Michelangelo as "Wayne Gretzky on steroids." Casey Jones joins the Turtles to help them fight Shredder and the Foot, mentioning until April that he was a professional ice hockey player until he was injured, and ultimately saved Splinter from Foot's base and destroyed Shredder in a garbage truck. He also fell in love with April in the process.

In the third film, Casey (again depicted by Elias Koteas) returns to the Turtles request to assist Splinter in supervising the four honorary guards transported to the present when the Turtles will take their place in feudal Japan. Koteas also appears as Jones's ancestor named Whit who, like his descendants, ultimately helps the Turtles despite an anti-heroic tendency. She also showed romantic interest in April, like Casey. It is implied that Casey has been away for a while, explaining his absence in the second film.

Casey appeared in the 2007 film TMNT , and was voiced by Chris Evans. At the time of filming, Casey is now in a relationship with April and he works for his shipping company as delivery deliverer, spends his evenings continuing his own vigil. Through this, he meets Raphael as Nightwatcher, becoming a sidekick - though he claims Raphael is a sidekick. At the beginning of the film, he is the only character who knows that Raphael is a Nightwatcher. When he met Raphael in the costume, the latter was at first puzzled as to how he could figure it out, where Casey replied, "Is not that difficult, man, you know, you look like a big metal turtle," and Raphael said, rather sadly, " Is that clear? "

Jones appeared at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows , a sequel to the 2014 movie and played by Stephen Amell's Arrow. Here, Jones is portrayed as a cool-headed jailer who dreams of becoming a NYC Detective. After the Shredder escaped from detention and Bebop and Rocksteady beat him and stole his armored vehicle, Casey decided to hunt down the two criminals themselves. Tracking them to the TCRI building, Jones's April notices are being chased by Kaki and grabbed from his hockey sticks and mask rods, which he uses to fight the Klan Kaki. He was quickly introduced to the turtles and became their joke, with Raph and Mikey mocking his hockey mask and then tricking him into attacking the Splinter Master (which caused Casey more easily defeated). However, in a day Raph and Mikey warm up for Casey and convince him to help them steal Purple Ooze from the police headquarters. When the tortoise is threatened by Casey and April police put themselves in the line of fire to buy turtle time to escape. Later, after Casey and April were released, Casey assisted in the final battle by taking Bebop and Rocksteady. He made a pair of homemade roller blades and used a lead pipe like a hockey stick to defeat them.

Casey is proven to be a good man who only fights his own evil when he feels like he has no choice. He does not use a variety of weapons, chooses only hockey sticks and then becomes the main pipe. The movie ends with Casey and April arranges to go on a date.
