5 Motorcycle Accessories You Must See - YouTube

Motorcycle accessories are features and accessories selected by motorcycle owners to improve safety, performance or convenience, and can include anything from mobile electronics to sidecars and trailers. Accessories can be added in the factory by the original equipment manufacturer or purchased and installed by the post-sale owner as an aftermarket item.

Fairing

The most prominent of the plastic or fiberglass skin that covers the motorcycle parts is "fairing". In practice, these can be fused almost seamlessly with engine panels or wheel/mudguard covers (which in some cases will be painted or metal-plated). This system acts to protect the rider from some or all weather, can improve aerodynamics (reduce barriers), and is an important styling element.

Modern fairings, mostly designed for each motorcycle and installed as original equipment by the manufacturer, have eliminated the aerodynamic and structural failures of the initial add-on fairings. Both sports and turer versions improve (sometimes very far) the comfort of riders in cold and wet weather and even "bikini" versions protect vulnerable crotch areas from entry of water.

Windshield

Also called a windshield or screen, window glass can be built into a fairing or attached to an unjust bike. They are usually made of transparent polycarbonate or high-impact plastic acrylic. They can be specially shaped to direct the airflow above or around the head of the rider even if they are much shorter than the rider sitting. The latest variation, first introduced in the BMW K100LT 1986 but becoming increasingly common, is an electrically controlled altitude adjustment.

Heating

Because motorcycles do not have climate control or full protection from the wind, some manufacturers offer heated or hand-held chairs to alleviate the discomforts of low temperatures experienced during riding or cold months. They can also be added as an aftermarket accessory and powered by bicycle electrical systems.

Some touring motorcycles, such as the Honda Gold Wing, have louvred vents on the fairing that direct warm air from around the engine or exhaust to the rider. This motorcycle can also have ventilation to cool the rider.

Sidecar

A sidecar turns a motorcycle into a three-wheeled vehicle. The peak of their popularity (160,000 in Britain in 1955, before World War II in the United States) occurred when powerful motorcycles were available, but there were some relative cars around. Sidecars like Watsonian England are coach-built in wood and have doors, sliding windows and even roof-sun, but modern sidecars may be fiberglass or aluminum. The alignment of the sidecar is very important and the installation is under great pressure, making the release version largely impractical. In any case, a special sidecar tire is not suitable for solo riding.

Cornering the "outfit" is partially controlled by the throttle and this makes for an interesting effect: A sidecar brake wheel - usually a pedal side by side with a rear brake motor - is helpful. Sidecar places heavy loads on wheel bearings, wheel-fingers and suspension components; even frames and machines can suffer. A fake-sidecar bank known as the "Sidewinder" became available in the UK in the 1980s, intended to overcome the limitation of learner-driver license requirements of 125Ã, cc introduced in 1983, but its carrying capacity was limited, which was roughly equivalent to tool box.

Trailer and tow hitch

A hitch or tow hitch trailer is a device mounted on a motorcycle that allows it to pull a motorcycle trailer. Legislation often limits them to carrying luggage and not passengers.

Storage

Various options exist to transport goods, other than riders and passengers, by motorcycle.

Pannier (saddlebags)

Modern touring motors often have pannier or saddlebag installed as standard or available as an option. They usually come in pairs but can be used individually.

Pannier is mounted on both sides of the rear of the motorcycle roughly below (but not interfere) the passenger's passenger seat. Panniers "hard" generally come in injection mold plastics such as ABS, and "soft" panniers come in some form of textile (eg Cordura) or leather. Panniers are almost always removable and often locked, either assembly or closing. Panniers such as suitcases, side loading, ideal for bringing clothes to hotel rooms while a hard pannier containing the top is more suitable for shopping trips.

The soft pannier utility that contains the top can appear in the form of "throwing" without a buffer. They can be placed firmly by the bottom yoke section under the rider or the pillion or maybe just loose. Increasingly, the bag part is attached to the yoke with a zipper, making its use as a suitcase more comfortable.

Trunk

The top rod or box is a storage compartment mounted behind a chair, often complementing a pannier or saddlebag. The original equipment version can be removed or an integral part of the bike, e.g. as it is mounted on a Honda Goldwing or BMW K1200LT, and may be equipped with a motorcycle rear lights, and a backrest for passengers. The top box may also be an aftermarket market.

The trunk may also refer to storage space under a chair built into a motorcycle or scooter.

Luggage rack

A common addition to many bikes is an attachment where other bags or luggage can be tied up. This eliminates the need for rucksack drivers and is generally a safer and safer way to increase the carrying capacity of motorcycles. In the 1950s the popular British motorcycle, Triumph, often came with a tank-mounted carrier. The security burden is better, but they are losing popularity over unproven, but deeply felt, the danger to motorists in terms of front-end collisions.

Tank and tail bag

The tank bag is a storage compartment attached to the top of the gas tank. Many mounting options exist, with ropes and/or magnets being the most common. Other options include a rigid collar that travels into the tank around the fuel filler cap, a large pad tied to a gas tank that serves as a mounting point for a pocket using a zipper or strap, and a suction cup. Most tank bags are designed to be quickly removed to facilitate refueling.

The tail bag is usually a soft bag mounted on a pillion chair through a rope, and is available in various sizes. Due to the installation location, the motorcycle with the tail bag also can not carry passengers on the millionaire seat.

Damage damage protection

Slider

A wide range of sliders, called frame sliders, frame protectors, fairing protectors, or dilapidated bobbins, adhere to motorcycles with the intention of minimizing damage to the fairings, frames, engines, and other parts of the motor, in case of accidental crashes or tips. They are made of plastic, such as Delrin, acetal, or nylon, or sometimes aluminum. The slider frame is usually located and mounted on the engine bolts on either side of the fairing. Front or rear axle shifters, also called slider forks and swing-arm spool sliders provide some reduction in potential damage to suspension components, wheels, and other parts by making contact with the ground before the rest of the bike. The hard-fitted foot pegs, which do not fold upwards can also serve as a buffer between the ground and the bike frame and components.

Crash bar

The crash bar aims to protect motorcycle engines and body panels and is believed to protect the rider. The Hurt Report (1981) found that "Crash bar is not an effective injury prevention measure, the reduction of ankle injury is matched by an increase in injury to the upper legs of the thighs, knees and lower legs."

They are less popular now than they used to be; vulnerable and fairing machines are sometimes protected by a slider frame instead.

The general arrangement of the crash bar is a loop of chrome-plated steel pipes mounted on each side of the lower motorbike frame. As well as their protective functions, they are valuable as mount points for accessories such as road pegs, lights and, on police motorcycles, sirens, cameras and radar guns. One variation is bah-guard, especially for off-road riders.

Custom Tire

Special tires based on bicycle purposes are common. Bicycles meant for drag racing will have thicker and thicker tires, cross country bikes often have whitewalls or letters on their tires, and high end bikes will often have custom fingers as well - both in type and color. Sniffer-driven bicycles often have chains attached to them to aid traction.
