The Ruger SR-Series is a semi-automatic pistol line manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & amp; Company. With a thickness of 1.18 inches (30.0 mm) through the grip, this is touted by Ruger as one of the slimmest double-stack pistols available. SR-series has been marketed as a reserve/concealment weapon for law enforcement as well as for civil secret carry. The SR9 Ruger booth for the 9ÃÆ'-19mm Parabellum cartridge was introduced in October 2007, and the slightly smaller SR9c came out in January 2010. The Ruger SR40 booth for 0.40 S & W cartridges came out in October 2010, and the compact SR40c in June 2011.

Development

Beginning in the early 2000s, the rapid growth of laws and regulations allowing concealed by law-abiding citizens in various jurisdictions creates a large market for pistols manufactured specifically for such use. Desirable characteristics for these firearms include: small size, thinness, high magazine capacity, lightweight construction (often achieved through the use of polymer frames), hidden darkened stainless steel slide, high visibility and/or night scene, and large ambidextrous ergonomic safety manual thumb and magazine release. Ruger specifically designed the SR9 gun to handle a very active and profitable handheld-carry market segment and has the majority of the attributes mentioned above.

Design details

SR9 is the first large-caliber striker gun designed and manufactured by Sturm Ruger. Similar to Glock's "safe action", the striker firing SR9 has predefined triggers. With this type of action, the striker is partially cocked when the slide is pedaled, then fully cocked and released when the trigger is pulled. Due to security issues, the pull of long and heavy triggers of this type is considered ideal for law enforcement and self defense applications. SR9 and SR9c have identical trigger groups. The Gunblast enthusiast web site ranked the two examples of SR9 and SR9c that were tested with factory trigger travel backward at 9.5 mm (0.37 inches). Gunblast assigns a value to its SR9 example with a trigger pull of 30 NN (6.7 lb f ), and Gunblast rated the example SR9c with a pull trigger 23 NN (5.2 lb f ). The SR40 Gunblast example was rated with a trigger pull of 29.5Ã, N (6.6Ã, lb f ). The pull-trigger difference is most likely due to differences between individual weapons, and not for changes in specifications by Ruger between models. The trigger trip is 7.8 mm (0.31 inches).

SR9 retreat operated with a locked breech. It features a staggered columns magazine (double-stack magazine) with a capacity of 17 rounds, and is also available in a 10-round configuration for locale where capacity is limited. The gun has a very low profile slide; this holds the barrel axis close to the shooter's hand and makes the SR9 Ruger more comfortable to shoot by reducing the rising muzzle and allowing for faster goal recovery in quick shooting sequences. This slide is available in stainless steel that is hardened or smoothed through hardening, and the frame is a fiberglass reinforced nylon polymer, resistant to warping or failure. These frames are offered in dull black or olive. SR9 also has a reversible backstrap which allows the owner to select a flat or curved grip shell, based on personal preference. In addition, SR9 sport rail Picatinny for installation of laser sights and tactical lights.

SR9 has several security devices such as manual safety thumbs and ambidextrous magazine releases, burdened space indicators, visual indicators and tactile cocked-strikers, and shielding block safeguards that prevent pistols fired if accidentally dropped. SR9 also comes with magazine termination. The SR9 Ruger can be safely fired with an empty magazine in the gun. A warning issued by Ruger stated that, due to termination, firing a gun without inserting a magazine would cause unnecessary wear to the striker's block, but the published firearms information noted that the SR9 disconnection could be disabled by simply removing some separators. relationship.

SR9's open-iron view is of three contrasting contrasting points, and offers drift adjustments on both front and rear blades for windage, as well as rear-view adjustments for elevation.

Variant

  • The Ruger SR9 began shipping in October 2007. This is the first model of the SR-series Ruger. Full size SR9 rugers are booths in 9ÃÆ'â € "19mm Parabellum, and are shipped with two 17-round, flush-fit magazines and loading tools. The economic version of SR9, 9E , was released in 2014.
  • The Ruger SR9c began shipping in January 2010, according to Ruger. The SR9c is lighter and smaller dimensions than the SR9, but has the same grip width (measured across the safety lever) as a full-sized SR9. Manual security, customizable rear sights, and updated trigger versions are all present in concise versions as well. Unlike SR9 recoil spring assembly, the SR9c gun is equipped with a double recoil spring assembly. SR9c is usually provided with two magazines. The standard 10-lap compact magazine has a flat bottom floor plate, with an expanded floor plate also included. The second magazine is a full-sized 17-round unit featuring a handheld adapter that turns the SR9c compact handle into a full-size handle. However, in jurisdictions where the number of rounds of firearms is limited by law, SR9c is sent from Ruger with two 10-round magazines and two additional floor plates. An additional retraction path (serration) is located on the front side of the SR9c slide, making it easier to operate and tap-check the slides. The Ruger SR9c was selected as the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence's Handgun of the Year in 2010.
  • The Ruger SR40 begins shipping in October 2010 to the dealer. This is a full-size variant available in.40 S & amp; W. Full size, 40 S & amp; W contains 15 rounds. SR40 ships with two 15-round magazines, flush-fit and loading tools. The overall dimensions of the base and barrel length of SR40 are the same as for SR9, although the stainless steel through-hardened slides are modified and 0.060 in (1.5 mm) wider than the SR9 slides. According to Ruger, the extra mass of the SR40 slide reduces the shearing speed during cycling to help reduce pain and increase service life expectancy.
  • The Ruger SR40c starts shipping in June 2011. Like SR9c for SR9, SR40c is the shortened version of SR40. This is dimensionally equal to SR9c; and unlike SR40, SR9 also has the same weight. The SR40c flagship is standard with 9-round magazine with optional additional base plate, as well as full-size SR40 15-lap magazine with removable sleeve. In jurisdictions that prohibit large-capacity magazines, he sends with two 9-round magazines and two extended baseplates instead.
  • The Ruger SR45 entered in.45 ACP was announced in January 2013 and is scheduled to appear on the 2013 annual SHOT Show tradeshow for shooting, hunting and firearms industries.

Call back

On April 9, 2008, Ruger remembers the SR9 model because, under some circumstances, can shoot if dropped with manual security and spin in space. This condition can occur in pistols manufactured from October 2007 to April 2008. Ruger designs a new trigger group that fixes this problem. These include, among other things, adding a blade in a spin to the trigger itself, similar to that in the Glock gun. This blade should be pressed to allow the trigger to be pulled. It also serves as an overtravel stop. Ruger also redesigned magazine releases, disconnect & amp; disconnect spring, and blocker striker and attacker spring attacker. Ruger originally announced that, starting in mid-May 2008, they will retrofit the SR9 gun to have serial numbers under 330-30000 with new parts, and include a free backup magazine (about 11,000 pistols). The SR9 gun with serial numbers 330-30000 and higher is produced with safety enhancements and is not subject to recall. Ruger started sending reminder boxes to customers in July 2008. Several of the original SR9 pistols had different magazine hooks and were upgraded to new styles, allowing the use of SR9 magazines early and later.
