Saddlebags are the bags that are attached to the saddle.

In horse riding, saddlebag sits in various positions, behind, side, or in front of the saddle. Most stick to the saddle with straps and ties. They can be made from various materials. Although leather is a traditional material, it is heavier and requires more care than many modern versions. There are several types: Pommel bags (which sit in front of the saddle), traditional paired saddlebag (located on horse's hips, on both sides of the cantle), and various small bags such as bag bags (small bags like tubes sitting right behind the saddle) or a small saddle bag that can be carried on the outside (right side) of the English saddle.

Package animals
A pannier-style bag is sometimes mounted on top of a packet saddle used for packing equipment on horses or other packaged animals (often, donkeys or donkeys) rather than carrying riders. In Turkey Anatolia, Iran and Baluchistan, saddlebags are traditionally woven with wool, with front faces dotted with Soumak and flat flat backs. The gap is left along the opening for the rope to close and secure the bag to the pack of animals.
Bicycle
In cycling, saddlebags or tote bags are bags mounted under saddles or chairs. Smaller bags are typically used for storing some items such as spare tires, puncture repair equipment, tools, rain gear, food, first aid kit, etc. Used handbags are used on touring bicycles, racing bikes, and cross country bikes.
Bags range from small to large (more than 25 liters). The small bag, known as the seat bag , wedge package , or seat pack actually fits under the saddle. Larger projected back and sideways bags are usually called saddlebags ; the famous example is Carradice Long Flap, for many years being a tourist center of the British cycle especially on weekends.
Recumbent bikes have seats that are much larger than conventional saddle bikes, and special bags are available that stick to chairs; this is also called a seat bag but usually a small pannier size tour.
Motor
On motorcycles, modern panniers are usually hard shells mounted behind a chair and on either side of the rear wheel, attached to a frame (which bolts to the frame of a motorcycle) known as a carrier. Modern Panniers are made in order to be released quickly.
Historically, the origins were in military use for the delivery of motorists, where soft, often canvas-type wicker bags are paired onto motorcycles by imperfect frames allowing the rider to carry documents safely. After the hostilities ended, the remaining items including motorcycles could be obtained from army surplus depots, especially after World War II during the 1950s when there was an increase in the use of motorcycles as a cheap form of transportation.
Saddlebags are also available as modern motorcycle accessories (similar to the western saddlebag described above) to be placed across the back of the motorcycle seat, so they can be removed quickly. They can then be performed on the arms or shoulders of the rider.
Made of leather or vinyl (leather or imitation leather) with stiffness, they are known as Throwovers and come in different shapes and sizes to be used as travel briefcases or practical temporary containers for items such as shopping.
